If your initial response to adoption is "I
could never carry a baby for nine months and then give
my baby away," you understand the
unique bond of love that develops between a birthmother
and her child during pregnancy. We can assist you in
exploring the option of adoption without
any obligation. You can take your time
during the course of your pregnancy to get the information
you need, make the choice that is right
for you, and begin to plan
and prepare for your future and for the
care of your child.
A birthmom can be involved
in selecting a loving couple
to provide a home for her child, and in setting up a
plan for periodic pictures and updates
about the child's growth and development. An adoption
plan can be made during pregnancy, but adoption
is not finalized until after the baby's birth.
Two of the agencies that we refer to are Bethany
Christian Services and Christian
Adoption Services.
We can refer you to a maternity
home where you can prepare for your final
decision in a safe environment while continuing your
education. Someone from our center would be available
to accompany you to tour the home and meet with the
director and houseparents. Homes that we refer to are
the Christian
Life Home in Raleigh, Lois'
Lodge in Matthews, and The
Royal Home in Salemburg.
We can provide the emotional
support, educational assistance, and resources
you will need to thoroughly examine adoption and make
the decision that is right for you.
Adoption, although never easy, can be a loving
choice for your child and a door of hope
for you and your future. Birthmothers
can look back on their decision to place their child
with a loving married couple
as a decision that gives life twice:
to the baby and to a couple who long for a child.
